We are proud to have commissioned the creation of ten decorative bicycles with flower planters throughout the East Side in the summer of 2022.
The bikes enhance the area with new art and greenery and we've received overwhelmingly positive feedback from business owners and visitors.
Each of the bikes is sponsored by a local business. Thank you to the 10 East Side businesses that sponsored bikes in 2022:
Beans & Barley
Dogtopia of Milwaukee East Side
East Side Family Chiropractic
Edge on North Joseph Property Development
Fusion Poke
Izzy Hops
Kind Oasis
McDonald's East North Avenue
MKE Film's Oriental Theater
Neighbor Art Studio
If you're interested in sponsoring a bike for 2023, please contact East Side BID Executive Director, David Smulyan, at director@theeastside.org.
Within the East Side BID's boundaries, there are three access points to the Oak Leaf Trail. We're planning to work with the City of Milwaukee County Parks Department in 2023 to improve signage on the Trail to inform bikers and walkers of the shopping, dining, and activities available in the East Side Commercial District.
The BID is a strong proponent of enhancing the safety of bike riders. We're currently working with the City of Milwaukee on plans for improving the streetscape on North Avenue. We have seen across the country and the glove that local businesses thrive in pedestrian and bike-friendly areas. Business owners and residents today are eager to see infrastructure improvements that improve traffic safety and create new public spaces.
Stay tuned for more information on both of these exciting initiatives!
